Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Kaitohutohu Whakatairanga - Marketing Adviser to join the University’s marketing team on a fixed-term, full-time basis for 6 months. The role will be responsible for planning and delivering content for marketing channels, including campaigns and social media, that positively positions the University in the minds of future students, including both undergraduate and postgraduate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Content and Campaigns Manager and Senior Marketing Adviser to deliver an annual schedule of domestic student recruitment campaigns.
  • Work with external and in-house photographers and videographers to commission and produce high quality visual content.
  • Draft headlines and supporting copy for advertising and brief the University’s in-house Design team on required campaign assets.
  • Produce additional campaign content as required for each campaign, including content for email marketing, campaign landing pages, and the University website.
  • Work with the University’s team of student content creators to plan and create engaging and authentic content for key social media channels, including TikTok and Instagram.
  • Monitor the performance of social media content and make recommendations on which content should be promoted as part of the University’s paid social media campaigns.

Key requirements:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in marketing or a related discipline.
  • At least four years of proven experience in a professional marketing or content role.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and deliver plain English content for diverse channels.
  • Flexibility and clear understanding of audience: Ability to create and adapt content for marketing purposes for diverse stakeholders.
  • Previous experience project managing marketing campaigns.
  • Previous experience in creating content for social media channels.
  • Proven ability of taking the initiative and working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
